The Mi Note 10 gives an early indication of some smartphone trends that we might see in 2019, including an array of five camera and super high megapixel sensors. The potential hardware that is played here is tempting, and I am pleased to see how well the camera’s performance is detailed.

Launched in conjunction with the absolute offer of the Redmi Note 8T, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is the European version of the Xiaomi CC9 Pro. This phone is very attractive thanks to the 108 megapixel rear camera.
Xiaomi already had an extraordinary one in 2019. Xiaomi Mi 9 pocketed 5 stars, the Mi 9T Pro is approaching, and we have seen real improvements and original innovations across the board related to the products of this Chinese company. So it’s right for the company to end the year with what looks like another impressive smartphone: the Xiaomi Mi Note 10.
Mi Note 10 is the European release of CC9 Pro, a phone that Xiaomi launched with Apple Watch 5-bating Mi Watch. Apart from having a name that is very similar to Samsung’s flagship release, there seems to be no significant difference between it and CC9 Pro.
Camera Xiaomi Mi Note 10 – Five cameras to play with, including a 108 megapixel main sensor
The highlight of Mi Note 10 is the camera. Or should I say five vertically aligned cameras that you find running down the back of the phone. If you think a cellphone with three cameras is pushing something, wait until you see what’s happening here.
The camera array header is a 108 megapixel main sensor, which, by default, combines four pixels into one and produces a 27 megapixel image. If that isn’t enough, a quick swipe to the right in the camera application allows you to take a full 108 megapixel picture. One shot at this high resolution requires around 18MB, so it’s nice to see Xiaomi display 128GB of storage as standard.
The main sensor also packs a f / 1.65 aperture, which according to Xiaomi was developed by working with Samsung.
On top of the 108 megapixel sensor there are two zoom cameras: a 12 megapixel sensor with 2x zoom (equivalent to 15mm) that has been specifically designed for portrait shooting, and a 5 megapixel version that can be pushed up to 50x digital magnification. This camera also has 5x “optical” zoom and 10x hybrid zoom.
The fourth camera is your 20-megapixel ultra-wide (117-degree-of-view) option. Then, underneath there is a 2 megapixel sensor dedicated to shooting close-up macro. This allows you to take highly detailed photos from a distance of 2cm from the subject. Xiaomi representatives revealed that you will get a prompt to switch to this mode when you approach something.
That is a very large number of megapixels to play, which makes it a mobile that offers a lot of flexibility for the unit at a price of around £ 500.
Of course, everything boils down to quality; just increasing the number of megapixels is not the same as getting better photos. I have taken several shots (many more will come in full review) during my 48s-hour with Mi Note 10, and aside from a little lag when you are in 108-megapixel mode, the results look pretty good. The level of detail is the most obvious improvement, but the colors and dynamic range are also impressive.
There is a new onboard Night mode 2.0, too, which aims to reduce noise in low light shooting by using full Raw shooting and capturing multiple images in a short period of time.
The 32 megapixel sensor on the front serves selfies. It combines a nice “Vlog” mode, if it attracts attention, to automatically cut and reduce your recordings.

Of course, the camera is the king here – but don’t think of this phone as a trick pony. The large 5260mAh battery has to keep the FHD + 6.47in screen working for a long time, and I haven’t had to charge the device in the two days I have with it.
When the juice runs out, you can use the included 30w charger to take cells from 0-100% in – according to Xiaomi, however – 1 hour 5 minutes. Wireless charging, which is included with other Xiaomi devices such as the Mi 9, is not available here.
Powering the Mi Note 10 is the Snapdragon 730G chipset, which was chosen because of its power efficiency. It might not pack the pure power of Snapdragon 855+, but it seems like a very capable chip; I haven’t encountered any obstacles or fast bumps. Mi Note 10 also comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage.
In the case of the Mi Note 10 software running Mi UI 11, which is built on Android 9. However, Xiaomi phones have recently been updated, at least in beta, to Android 10. So, hopefully, the increase shouldn’t be too far away .

With a curved screen that melts into a metal rim and rear glass, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 looks similar to previous high-end phones from people like Huawei and Samsung. That’s far from a bad thing. The Mi Note 10 feels good in the hand; The iPhone 6 Pro has a heavy, convincing feel, but feels smaller and narrower than the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
OLED screens are brightly curved and colorful, and the FHD + resolution offers a lot of sharpness. There is a fingerprint sensor inside the screen too, which Xiaomi says is faster than the previous iteration; it’s also much thinner, because there is plenty of room to load a larger battery.
I am still not fully selling on sensors currently in the gen display; However, the ones here are fast and quite responsive – it’s just not as much as the physical fingerprint reader behind.
There is only a spark-resistance rating here – but there is a 3.5mm headphone jack sitting next to the USB-C port at the bottom.
